A way to generate more leads from your website

As your trusted IT partner, we have a lot of experience with websites and we know how much of a minefield website development can be. That’s why we wanted to share our knowledge with you, so you know the right type of questions to ask when it’s time to upgrade your website.

For the average business owner, only 2% of website traffic takes action after visiting your website. That means 98% of people are leaving without taking any action, which is really frustrating.

Here’s something you can add to your website, to encourage more people to take action, even if they aren’t ready to buy your services just yet.

It’s called data capture.

It’s a way of getting website visitors to willingly give you three pieces of information. And it’s GDPR compliant.

These three pieces of information can be summarised by the acronym NET:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number (mobile)

They fill in these details in a form on the page, where they also give their permission for you to market to them. This is the core principle of permission marketing.

Take a step back and look at what you can achieve here. This is way of getting people who have Googled for people offering your products or services to CHOOSE to give you their contact details and permission to contact them.

However, there’s a problem. And the problem is that no one likes to just hand over their contact details.

The answer then is to offer them something in return for their contact details. We call this an ethical bribe. This is something of enough perceived value that they’re happy to hand over their contact details to receive it.

A great ethical bribe you can use is an educational guide that offers potential clients valuable information about the practice area and aims to reassure about the process because solicitors can sometimes seem a bit scary.

By offering an educational guide in this way, you’ll trigger people visiting your website who aren’t ready to instruct you just yet into action, which is exactly what you want.

They then swap their personal contact details for an ethical bribe. And you get to start building your short-term database of people who are looking for your services.

This will work brilliantly on your home page or on the dedicated service page. And remember, your website should do all of the hard-work for you so get a piece of software called an auto responder to send out your PDF immediately.

People want information instantly, so if they have to wait a few days for you to email it to them it won’t have the same effect.

When it comes to upgrading your website, make sure you include a form of data capture.
